Michael nodded in thanks as the waitress brought him a handful of Greek breakfast delights. He picked up his fork, not being able to wait another second for Autumn to return to the table, in attempt to satisfy his rumbling stomach. However, when he set himself up to stab the grub on the patterned plate his hand froze. The reaction wasn’t very uncommon considering it had been occurring frequently since the accident a year ago. He was always shocked when he thought about how long it had been. But the time hadn’t healed his wounds like all his friends and family said to comfort him. The way he saw it, time wasn’t even a concept because she was gone and she was never coming back.
A small, hushed sound caught his attention as he looked down at the child tucked safely in a blue carriage next to him. Letting the fork between his fingers drop to the table, he brushed his coarse fingers across the tiny individual until they rested on his petite chest. Michael watched as his fingers moved up and down with a constant rhythm; breathe in, breathe out.
Daily the bundle began to look more and more like her, no thought about it. His nose curved at the exact point and his skin was so fair it was almost transparent. Michael saw his own eyes in the boy but everything else screamed her name, loudly. Sometimes when he stared too long at his son the teenager would begin to think ill; the situation could be extremely taunting and tormenting. But the only bit of her that he had left was the helpless infant and he would never take him for granted.
“Everything’s so easy for you isn’t it, Brooklyn,” he spoke quietly more to himself than his company. Michael bent down and placed his lips gently on the infant’s head for a moment before sitting back up in his chair with a sigh.
He was in Aegina to escape the home he knew so well but feared so much. This was his chance, their chance, to start over with a clean slate. There was no point trying to love in a place of hate. He picked up his fork yet again, this time inviting the many tastes of new.

Polly entered Panakis for the first time since her arrival in Aegina. She closed the door quietly, despite the bells hung onto the door. They startled her at first, but than smiled at her stupidness. There were just some things Polly never thought she would get used to. She was almost surprised at how empty the place seemed, she had always heard other people talking about it. Taking in the large room, Polly glanced around, as she looked for a table. When she was satisfied with a small, two person table by the window, Polly sat down. Directly to her left was a man. He looked some what familiar, but she couldn't put a name to the face. He probably attended her school; their was far to many people to keep track off. For the first time, Polly looked at the menu that was placed in front of her. The waitress that had given it to her was talking to her, but she paided no attention. Polly rightfully assumed that she was just informing her of the menu. Blah Blah Blah. "Would she other stop?" Polly wondered. Nodding politely as her parents had reminded her ever so many times. But than she picked up her menu, as to signal to the waitress that she had heard enough. Chewing what smelled like gum, the waitress walked away. Glancing nervously over the top of her menu, Polly glanced at the man. She sensed he could see her, even though he was deeply engaged in a young child in a carriage. Even though he was young, she wondered if the child was his. In Sweden, Polly's home country; it was considered the worst thing one could do, have a child so young. Glancing over the top of her menu every few moments until she could no longer contain herself. "Is she yours?" Polly finally blurted out, checks turning to a dark red in embarrassment. "I'm so sorry..." but she couldn't take the words back into her mouth.

Michael’s attention was yet again distracted when he heard a voice directed toward him. From his little time in Greece he knew Panakis wasn’t really busy in the morning and he was pretty sure he was the only one in the vicinity with something to own. He had heard stories about the restaurant turned club come night but he had never experienced the lifestyle himself. It was hard enough looking out for himself and now he had another to add to the list.
Placing his fork back on his plate where it had been the majority of the morning, he turned around to see the individual who had bluntly called out to him. She was a thin blonde, a common attribute in the women he knew. The familiar menu seemed attached to her face and it made him wonder if she had been spying on him for quite some time. Michael had been in such a deep trance that he probably wouldn’t have noticed the rest of the world fall apart around him. However, as Michael was concerned, it was already destroyed into a million little pieces.
“Brooklyn,” he said, his eyes falling on his child before returning back to his new company to correct her, “He.” It was odd how much attention a guy in a proximity of a child could receive. Michael wasn’t arrogant, or stupid; he knew that his appearance was flattering because Natalie never failed to remind him when people began to gawk. However, Michael was pretty positive that she was the one getting the attention most of the time and her comments were only to reassure him that he was the one. Sometimes it shocked him how young they really were.
Then suddenly she apologized for, or what he assumed was, her unexpected outburst. All he could do was smile, his dimples impossible to miss. Over the year he had figured out that girls had an attraction to children and it was just in their nature to bring up the subject. Everyone he seemed to meet had a motherly instinct about themselves.
“Don’t be,” he said, hoping to reassure her that the question wasn’t inappropriate. Yet, if she went into more prodding they might have some issues. He didn’t have any difficulty telling people that he had a child but the second someone asked about the mother, conservation wasn’t seen in the stars for them. Michael was generally someone who kept to themselves, avoiding conflict at all costs.
“Yes, he’s mine,” he said simple before Brooklyn started making noise, realizing that he was not the certain of attention anymore. Michael rolled his eyes, never failing to smile down at his love, as he let his fingers fall back into place on he boy’s stomach. Making the smallest movements Brooklyn began to make sounds that Michael knew was laughter; Natalie didn’t leave him without some kind of parenting intuition.

Lying in bed, Courtney had only one thing on her mind that morning. A bagel and some sunshine. The room certainly wasn't lacking any sunshine--it shone a bit too brightly through the curtains, as Courtney had discovered when she had opened her eyes twenty minutes earlier. But the bagel...Well the bagel sounded very nice. The only problem was, Hayley had decided to be horrible and eat the last one when she had pranced in the morning previous and plopped herself down on the couch while Court had been in the shower.
And now the bagels were all gone. It really wasn't fair. Hayley should go buy some of her own bagels, as Court had pointed out to the girl. But no, apparently they were all out of bagels at her house too. Remembering the conversation from the morning previous, Courtney dressed and got ready to begin Bagel Quest '07. When they had first gotten to Greece, Court had had a bit of trouble at the market. The fact she didn't know a word of Greek didn't exactly work in her favor when it came to the foods that weren't in the clear packages.
It wasn't until she was passing the cafe that Courtney realized there was a way to avoid the market. Panagakis had bagels. Plus, through one of the windows she could see Michael, whom was in her Early Childhood Education class at Adrastos. Minus the blinding sunlight in her bedroom, things were working in her favor today. Maybe it'd continue and her brother would go back to New York. That would definatly make it a day for the books.
"Hi babe! How's it going?" Courtney plopped herself down in the chair across from Michael and grabbed a bagel off of his plate. Why she called everyone babe....She didn't exactly know. It was like a pet name for every single one of her friends, it seemed. Courtney's eyes fell on the child in the carriage next to Michael's chair and they met the small, bright ones that belonged to his son. She grinned at Brooklyn, waving a few of her fingers in greeting. "Where's Autumn? I haven't seen her in a whole day. I might die if I don't see her soon. Yup. Gonna die soon."
Courtney cast a glance around the room, her bright blue orbs now falling on a small blonde watching Michael with bright red cheeks, as if she had just embarassed herself. A look of amusement spread across her features, and she glanced over at Michael with raised eyebrows. "We can't take you anywhere anymore. Too many fangirls for your own good, I'm telling you."

Polly smiled a forced simile at the girl who had just sat next to the boy she had blurted out to. "Hi" Polly said, as her eyes looked down to the floor. She began to take out her locket, pushing the gold heart left and right. She wondered who the other girl was, and why she had called Polly and fangirl. Than, her waitress returned, and Polly ordered a hot chocolate. She knew that most people usually ordered coffee, but ever since Polly had tried hot chocolate, she became addicted to it. Coffee just made her act like...well like a freak. "So..."Polly dropped her hands down from her locket and began drumming her newly polished nails on the table. "Do you guys come here often? I haven't seen you before." Once again, Polly felt her checks flushing. Obviously they came here often, didn't everyone? And secondly, of course she hadn't seen them, this was her first time here. Her waitress returned with a mug full of steaming heat. She couldn't believe she was being so stupid. It was a rarity that Polly was at a loss for words.
Polly wondered what Molly would have done if she was here. She probably would have said something funny, witty that would make everyone love her. They always did. But of course fate had mixed up the threads of lifes, and Polly was in a cafe seat, as red as a strawberry.
Taking a sup of her overly hot chocolate, Polly lowered her the mug, biting her burnt tongue to with hold herself from screaming.

Michael didn’t even look up from the infant capturing his attention when he heard a greeting. The words were common to one particular girl, Courtney Jacobs. He had met her in one of the classes he was attending at Adrastos, an education course. They hadn’t known each other for very long but Michael had an automatic attraction to her personality, always sweet but with a hint of bitter. She was like no one he ever known and that made her all the more special. Their friendship was going to be one heck of a journey.
“Attempting to eat breakfast,” he said, now providing her with all the attention she deserved. His tone was hinting that her entrance had made the task difficult but he was only joking. Sometimes all Michael needed was to surround himself by other people; it was the only way to stop thinking for even a second.
He smiled to see Courtney interact with Brooklyn; she had the intuition too, probably a mixture of being a woman and an aspiring teacher. A lot of the people he knew were frightened to see the truth in the real world and preferred to pretend it didn’t even exist.
“She was here a moment ago,” he said in response to Courtney’s comment about Autumn, trying not to flinch when she mentioned death. It had been a year, three hundred sixty-five days, but it was never enough.
Michael and Autumn had grown up together in California, destined to spend the rest of their childhood years together. However she had become much more than a friend, she was a confidante. He had met Natalie through her and he had lost Natalie with her, all in what seemed like moments. If she hadn’t been around, well, unlike Courtney, Michael would have literally died.
He shot Courtney a look when she bluntly pointed out the anonymous girl’s staring. What could he say, the mouth was part of the package. However, the girl picked herself up with an actual greeting. Michael was pretty impressed that she didn’t run out of the restaurant; she seemed easily embarrassed.
“At least once a week,” he chuckled, realizing how important they were as the morning crowd. He hadn’t been eating much at home but there was something about Panagakis that was irresistible. “We’re what they tend to call ‘regulars’.”

Autumn pushed the door to the bathroom open and walked back into the room where she was supposed to be with Michael. As she headed back to their table, she grinned when she spotted a certain blonde haired girl sitting there with him. Reaching the table, she placed her hands on her hips and shook some hair out of her face. "First you start eating without me, and then you let someone take my place. Not nice, Michael. Not nice at all." She plopped herself down in the chair next to Court and pouted at the table as if it shared her feelings.
But she couldn't keep her face straight for long and has soon broken into a smile. "So...!" Autumn turned un her chair to face Court excitedly. "I haven't seen you in...what...fourteen hours? Personally, I think there is something wrong with that." She nodded fiercly . It was true. Seeing Courtney was a vital part to her day. Of course she prefered it when Greg and Court weren't all over each other...but if that was her only chance to see her then she'd just have to deal with it.
As Autumn shifted around in her seat to make herself more comfortable, her gaze fell on a very red-faced girl sitting a little ways away from them. She smiled brightly at her as Courtney and Michael seemed to be having a conversation with her and hostel comments weren't being thrown around. "Hi." She looked away quickly as she heard a noise coming from the carriage. "Oh! See?!" Autumn pointed across the table to Brooklyn as she turned to Michael. "Even Brooklyn agree's with me! You shouldn't have started without me. You're not teaching him very good manners. We don't need another corrupted man in this world."

"Hi."
Courtney looked extremely amused by now. The girl was red as a tomato, obviously embarrassed by something that had happened before Court had taken her seat. Michael had a tendancy to reduce girls to this state. He did it often without meaning to, and when it happened he brushed it off, making his victims seem to like him even more. Courtney found the whole ordeal really too amusing for her own good.
"Oh, well then. Let me leave you to your meal." Courtney teased, settling into her seat with a small laugh. She had grown to enjoy Michael's company immensely since they had met. Though he had loved and lost, Michael didn't let it show to many people the pain he so obviously felt for the loss of his first love. It seemed he surrounded himself with people who knew how to enjoy every day they had with each other, perhaps to ease the pain for himself and his son.
Courtney smirked at Michael, taking another bite of the bagel she had stolen from his plate with satisfaction as he shot her a look for pointing out the girl's obvious discomfort as bluntly as she had. She was never phased by looks thrown at her for saying something that wasn't quite polite or proper for the conversation, or getting yelling at for doing something stupid. She knew the people who took the time to give her shit were the people that would most likely be there when she needed them, and the feeling was mutual most of the time.
Before she had time to complete her thoughts, Autumn was standing in front of the two of them - three including Brooklyn. Courtney couldn't help but let a wide grin spread at the sight of the girl. Autumn made life.....fun. She made it worth living, and Courtney knew that that was exactly the case as far as Michael was concerned. "Yeah, but I'm an exception. I own the world so I get to sit where I damn well please." Court nodded firmly as Autumn took a seat next to her.
"That's because there is something wrong with that. I think we need to go buy watches and coordinate them so they go off every three hours so we can go meet somewhere. Go all fucking Charlie's Angels on everyone!" Courtney finished dramatically by turning her hands into a gun and making her Charlie's Angels pose for the others at the table. "Yup. We should. It'd be pretty fucking rad."

Polly put down her mug, trying to avoid the eyes of the three next to her. She listened to them talk to one another. How Polly had longed for that for so long, but it was almost like part of Polly had disappeared on that long, cold night seven years ago. She could almost feel the two girls, cold, piercing eyes look over her. Although she doubted it would help her face turn back to it's normal, pale color, Polly drank another sip of hot chocolate.
One of the girls made a remark about Charlie's Angels, and she felt herself crack up. Not in the way an annoying little six year old would laugh after being tickled, just a normal laugh. Charlie's Angel's used to be one of the only times she was allowed herself to take a break from the her ever so perfect life her parents had set up for her, school, homework, and maybe sports, if she was lucky.
Before Polly had come to this place, that is so to speak, before yesterday, she had a different view of life. She wasn't sure if it had to do with the young child, or the two girls, but some how she didn't feel as protected as she used to be. It was almost like she was in a bubble, protected from almost anything that came her way, but it grew weaker and weaker as she grew older, finally popping. "I'm Polly, Polly Miller" she said, extending her right hand to Autumn.

“Perfect timing,” he said in no particular direction as he caught Autumn’s appearance out of the corner of his eye. She was sauntering over to the table with a grin on her face before her hands were glued to her hip and she was ready to pounce. Michael wasn’t really listening as she rambled on, his eyes glued to the delicate hands resting on her hip. His eyes had to move fast though because she threw herself down next to Courtney quickly after her monologue. When he brought his attention back to her face a noticeable pout was there to greet him.
Michael brought his hand to his lips and blew her a kiss, no words necessary. He had known Autumn since they were young and it was a fact that she couldn’t stick with a dramatic scene. His thought process was proved correct as she broke into a smile before pummeling Courtney with their girl talk. The two had seen each other last night and they were already complaining how long it had been. He had even caught something Courtney had said about synchronized watches. To the innocent bystander, the two sounded like they were in love. Looking down at Brooklyn, the thought made him chuckle silently.
He looked back up to hear Autumn greeting the girl as if she was a person. It was amusing how different Courtney and Autumn could be but that was what balanced them out the most. Michael smiled in the new girl’s direction before Autumn was ranting at him again, this time bringing Brooklyn into the mix.
“Are you trying to get everyone against me?” Michael questioned, his eyebrow inching up. The occasional drama fest, always in terms of play, would strike between the two because of their past relationship. It’s so much easier to cause trouble with the ones you love because they’ll never leave. “You’ve got Courtney wrapped around your finger and now you’ve got your eyes on my son.” He shook a finger in her direction, a smile on his face as always.
Then his attention was taken away from the conversation as the girl finally introduced herself. Introductions were always pretty awkward, sharing something as personal as your name with strangers. However, maybe it was more of a title than a treasured identity.
“Michael,” he said, taking the opportunity to reveal himself as well, “If you haven’t already picked it up.” She was probably all jumbled up in the conversation to keep up with names and the distance wasn’t helping much either.
“You could pull up your chair if you’d like,” he offered, trying to come up with something to say so he didn’t make her feel weird if she denied, “Unless the waitress would have a heart attack with all the confusion.” He chuckled at his statement, knowing that other than a few other people on the opposite side of the restaurant, they were the life of the party. Most people spent their mornings in bed or sprawled out on the beach; they happened to be unlike most people.
